1st Semi-Final: RCB v/s NSW. Today at 8:00 PM (Indian Local Time)

1st Semi-Final: RCB v/s NSW.
Today at 8:00 PM (Indian Local Time)
Which team are you supporting today?

Team Overview:
Both the teams are on winning streaks. Ideally it should mean no changes to the XIs, but both have two places to debate.

Royal Challengers Bangalore:
-----------------------------------
The Royal Challengers have S Aravind to be worried about. On Wednesday he was given shows of trust after shows of trust despite the presence of such part-time bowlers as Gayle and Dilshan. He went for 69 in four overs. Abhimanyu Mithun could be a direct replacement. They also need to get a decent contribution from the middle order. With Saurabh Tiwary struggling, it's almost as if it's the top three, a hole, and then Vettori. They can't really manufacture a valuable batsman at this deep end of the tournament, and might still go for the big, albeit unreliable, hitting of the likes of Tiwary and Mayank Agarwal ahead of Mohammad Kaif's slower reliability and better fielding.

Squad: DL Vettori*, MA Agarwal, S Aravind, KB Arun Karthik, RR Bhatkal, TM Dilshan, CH Gayle, M Kaif, V Kohli, A Mithun, DP Nannes, AUK Pathan, J Syed Mohammad, SS Tiwary, JJ van der Wath

New South Wales:
----------------------
Stuart Clark's cutters were always going to be effective on the slow Chennai track, but can NSW risk his medium pace on this quick pitch with short boundaries? Nathan Hauritz, though, could be just as big a risk. Will they punt on the young Josh Hazlewood who has played just three Twenty20s? Another slightly adventurous move could be to bring in Philip Hughes at the expense of Daniel Smith. Hughes was a wicketkeeper-batsman at beginner levels, but this might be too left-field for a big match.

Squad: SM Katich*, SR Clark, PJ Cummins, NM Hauritz, JR Hazlewood, MC Henriques, PJ Hughes, NJ Maddinson, SNJ O'Keefe, BJ Rohrer, DLR Smith†, SPD Smith, MA Starc, DA Warner, SR Watson

Mohsin Khan named Pakistan interim coach

Islamabad: The Pakistan Cricket Board has appointed chief selector Mohsin Khan as the interim coach for the series against Sri Lanka.

The PCB has been looking for a full-time coach after Waqar Younis quit due to personal reasons soon after winning one-off test, three ODIs and two Twenty20s against Zimbabwe last month.

The test series against Sri Lanka begins in Abu Dhabi on Oct. 18, followed by five one-day internationals and a Twenty20.

The PCB says "Khan will be the coach for the Pakistan vs. Sri Lanka series only."

Former test batsman Ijaz Ahmed was named as assistant coach.

PCB development manager Intikhab Alam heads the three-man committee looking for a new coach. The committee has shortlisted five names, but last week Alam refused to reveal the names.

Pakistan junior cricket likely to visit China next year

ISLAMABAD, Sept 27 (APP) - Pakistan’s national junior cricket team is likely to visit China on the invitation of China Cricket Association (CCA) next year, website english.cri.cn. reported on Tuesday. The chief coach of Chinese cricket team and former Pakistani allrounder Rashid Khan said CCA was considering to invite Pakistani juniors to China for a bilateral cricket matches series so that their tour might add to the experience of host’s emerging players.
He said that as the Chinese cricket standard was improving and now after getting the possession of cricket stadium in Guangzhou, CAA wanted to stage competitions of international level at home.
The beauty and marvelous structure of the Guangzhou Cricket stadium was appreciated by international foreign players and managers during last year’s Asian Games in which Pakistani team also participated and lost to Afghanistan in the final match.
“Next month we shall discuss the expected tour and workout plan for extending an invitation to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to send their team,” said Khan, adding China is very keen to involve Pakistan in their cricket which will also be good for the public interaction at two sides.
A media official from PCB, demanding anonymity while talking about the expected tour, said that the board was always ready to support the cricket of brotherly nation China.
“Whenever we receive the invitation from China we shall feel happy to send our team with a quick response. Not only for sending a team to China but we are also ready to facilitate CAA for the grooming of their players,” the official said.
According to international sports monitors, cricket has been steadily growing in China as at present they have got a pool of 150-170 well-groomed players and more youngsters are showing interest in the game from school to university level.
A couple of Pakistani senior players have been providing coaching services to Chinese team and seven Chinese players had already attended a two month training session in Karachi last year.

Shahid Afridi will play in lahore

Despite concerns shown by Karachi’s regional association, former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has confirmed his participation in the season-opening Twenty20 event in Lahore despite the spread of dengue in the city.
The all-rounder, who will lead Karachi Dolphins, is looking ahead to the event where some participating teams have expressed concerns over the deadly virus that has claimed over 25 lives in Lahore.
The Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) called for a venue-shift, arguing that players were concerned about their safety. The Afghanistan Cricket Board, which will be sending a team from the country, also voiced their concern over the state of the city. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), however, rejected all concerns, saying precautionary measures have been taken and the event will go as planned from September 25.
Afridi, though, is keen to return to action.
“I will take part in the tournament,” the experienced all-rounder confirmed to The Express Tribune. “I am focusing on a good show for my team in order to achieve best results. I want to play cricket as much as I can to avoid rustiness. It will be a good tournament and I am not going to miss this opportunity.”
Fans can expect fireworks
The all-rounder has not played international cricket since the tour of West Indies where he developed differences with the coach and his subsequent outburst forced the board to strip him of captaincy.
Afridi retired from international cricket following that. He did represent Hampshire in the recently-concluded Friends Life T20 and hit an explosive knock of 80 off just 42 balls in his last innings at the event. Afridi said he was aiming for more such innings in the upcoming tournament.
“I am focusing on my batting also apart from bowling,” he said. “I will try to go fully prepared to shine as an all-rounder. My last innings has given me confidence and hopefully I will carry the form in the tournament.”
Return to international cricket?
However, Afridi refused an immediate return to international cricket.
“I just want to play cricket at the moment and will return when the time comes,” he said.
